Hawker Siddeley can trace its history back to 1888 when Charles Francis Brush established the Brush Electrical Engineering company in Loughborough. In 1991 South Wales Switchgear merged with Brush Switchgear to form Hawker Siddeley Switchgear. FKI PLC purchased the Hawker Siddeley group of companies in 1996.

Hawker Siddeley Switchgear Australia (HSSA) has been operating in Australia since 1964 and has developed extensive experience in the field of Medium Voltage (3.3KV to 38KV) Switchgear. We have a factory in Narangba Brisbane and manufacture a wide range of Medium Voltage Switchgear products on this site. Said products are listed in the PRODUCTS section of the website.

Our products are sold throughout the world via a network of Sales Agents and through our Sister companies in the UK and overseas. We have supplied hundreds of panels of switchgear to customers for applications as diverse as Power Stations, Mines, Utilities, Hospitals, Private Industry, Airports and Shopping Centres. Being part of a large proactive PLC we are constantly updating and improving our products through advances both in terms of quality and design. The very latest Hawker Siddeley / Whipp & Bourne product range features our patented single coil magnetic actuator and is marketed under the "Fit and Forget" range of products namely Eclipse (up to 15KV MV Switchgear), Horizon (up to 38KV Outdoor Switchgear) and the GVR Recloser (up to 38KV) are all featured in detail on this site.
